I am one of 23 invited artists exploring equality themes in Expressions In Equality exhibit curated by Sheila Frampton-Cooper.  How excited I am to be attending the opening reception Saturday January 17th 5-7pm at Vision’s Art Museum in San Diego from 5-7pm.

My piece Common Threads was inspired by a quote by Dr. Maya Angelou:  “We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry all equal in value no matter what their color.”

Using a palette of black, white, grey on a red/black background; I created abstracted hand embroidered figures to represent the vast human diverse tapestry Dr. Angelou speaks of.

Here is a detail image, I cannot share full view until after reception.  More photos to come from the reception in next post.

Congratulations, Sherry! The detail of the piece is beautiful…I look forward to the full ‘reveal’. Best wishes for a successful exhibit!
